On the ballot

22 local tax issues are on the November 3 ballot in Stark County

The November 3, 2026 general election

From the Ohio Secretary of State’s list of local questions and issues, as of September 18, 2026

Every property tax levy, income tax, bond and sales tax that reaches Stark County, including those of a school district or other district based next door. Of these, 9 ask for new money (a new tax, an increase or a bond) and 13 renew a tax already collected. Which are on your own ballot depends on where you live: your county board of elections has each precinct’s sample ballot and the exact wording.

How earlier votes went: since March 17, 2020, 238 tax issues reaching Stark County have been decided — 181 passed and 57 failed. Renewals passed 112 of 118; of the issues asking for new money, 36 of 83 passed; of the other 37 (decreases, replacements and issues the state’s list marks neither new nor a renewal), 33 passed.

  1. Alliance City

School district · also reaches Columbiana and Mahoning counties

    Property tax, 2 mills · 5 years · from 2027

    Permanent improvements

Continues a levy already on the bill. If it passes, the levy keeps going as it is today; if it fails, it ends when its current term runs out. When homes are revalued, the state cuts its rate so it collects the same total — so a home whose value rose more than most pays a little more of it.

    Current operating expenses

Continues a levy already on the bill. If it passes, the levy keeps going as it is today; if it fails, it ends when its current term runs out. Massillon City sits at Ohio’s 20-mill floor on the state’s 2025 rates, so its operating levies, this one among them, are no longer cut when homes are revalued: what they collect rises with values, which a 2025 law holds to inflation.

    School district

    Bond, $116.8 million · 37 years · from 2026

Construct, furnish, equip, renovate, rehab, remodel, add to & improve school district buildings & facilities

$123 a year for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s value

The county auditor’s estimate, as the ballot states it: 3.5 mills a year on average over the life of the bond. Source: the Stark County Board of Elections’ notice of election.

    For a home the county values at $150,000: $184.50 a year $200,000: $246 a year $250,000: $307.50 a year

Borrows $116.8 million over 37 years, repaid by a property tax levy. Its rate is set each year to meet that year’s payments, so it moves around the estimate, and like any levy approved now it carries none of the state’s rollback credits. Your home’s county value is on your tax bill.

Where this comes from

The Ohio Secretary of State’s list of local questions and issues for the November 3, 2026 general election, as the state published it on September 18, 2026; the results replace it once they are certified. Tax issues only: liquor options, zoning and charter questions are left out. The state files each issue under the county its body is based in; this page lists it under every county it reaches. Earlier issues go back to 2020, from the state’s results for each election.

A new property tax levy costs $35 a year for every mill on each $100,000 of a home’s value, the figure Ohio ballots print: since 2013 a new levy gets none of the state’s rollback credits. A renewal continues a levy already on the bill: if it passes, the levy keeps going as it is today, and if it fails, it ends when its current term runs out. A school district’s budget forecast is its own, filed with the state; this site’s School budgets pages show every line, and the levy calculator works one out for your own home.
